Getting Here

Queensland Australia

Great Keppel Island is a breathtaking tropical escape, located 15 km north of the Tropic of Capricorn in Queensland’s Great Barrier Reef. Getting here is easy, with several transport options available to suit your location and preferences.

Flying

Flights are available to Rockhampton Airport, where you can take a taxi, Uber, or transfer service to Keppel Bay Marina at Rosslyn Bay near Yeppoon. From there, a scenic 30-minute ferry ride will bring you to Great Keppel Island (see ferry options below).

Please note: The Great Keppel Island airstrip is temporarily closed pending Queensland Government lease arrangements.

Travel by Ferry

Ferries to Great Keppel Island are operated by Keppel Konnections and Fastcat Ferries from Keppel Bay Marina at Rosslyn Bay near Yeppoon. Check their websites for timetables and bookings, as additional services are often available on weekends and holidays. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes.

Travel by private boat

If you're arriving by your own boat, The Shell House is the only guest accommodation on Great Keppel Island offering two complimentary moorings exclusively for our booked guests (T&Cs apply). While we hope you can make use of them, they do have weight, draft, and size limitations.

To secure a mooring, please provide your boat details and a Certificate of Currency for insurance.
