Dating back to the early 1960s, this historic home was once a beloved tea house, serving tea, scones, and ice cream while offering a stunning collection of shells gathered by sailors and islanders. Though now a private beach house, its character and history remain, with the remarkable shell collection still on display.

Great Keppel Island boasts 17 pristine white sandy beaches, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and an abundance of marine life, including vibrant corals that make it a diver's paradise. With its year-round favorable weather, thanks to the Southern Barrier Reef, the island is an ideal destination at any time of the year. Explore nearly 1500 hectares of untouched beauty through scenic trails, or venture to nearby islands by boat.

We spent a fabulous long, long weekend at the Aussie
icon that is Shell House. It is a perfect, relaxed, tropical beach house
holiday with no sacrifice to comfort and amenity. Every day brought as
many adventures as you could discover both in and out of the water.
Hiking, kayaking, snorkelling- even a scuba dive. Household inclusions
made self catering easy and we also found a couple of places to eat out.
As the “Travel Guides” would say “We give Shell House 5 stars.

We had the most incredible week staying at the iconic
“Shell House” on Great Keppel Island. The Shell House is newly renovated but in
keeping with the relaxed , laid back island life , and catering for our
every need with the beach outside our front door.
And what beautiful beaches they are.!! Swimming, kayaking, snorkeling on the coral reefs,
deep sea fishing, hiking and if that’s all too much just grab a towel
and meander down to the beach with your book and chill. Maybe you’ll
encounter the resident echidna or spot whales breaching or snorkel with a
turtle on the reef. We did!!

We swam, snorkelled, walked most mornings, fished, read
and just relaxed. The whole island is amazing and is worth exploring
all of it. Was truly beautiful. Wish we could've stayed for longer, but
we will certainly be back.
